Fiverr Suspends Business in Russia

Our hearts break for the people of Ukraine and we join the world in grieving for the lives lost and destroyed due to the senseless and unjustifiable violence. We also mourn with our global community of freelancers and business owners, who work daily across borders, languages, and cultures to create opportunity. They know that any conflict that divides like-minded and good people into “us vs. them” represents a loss for all of humanity and is contrary to everything the Fiverr community stands for.  That said, the devastation in Ukraine requires action and has triggered global economic sanctions aimed at ending the conflict. In light of the ongoing situation, Fiverr is suspending its business in Russia starting today. We will not allow the opening of new accounts or the use of existing accounts to buy or sell on our platform. We are, however, allowing our Russian freelancers to withdraw their current earnings to ensure we have fulfilled our obligations to them.

3 Takeaways From Vidcon US 2022

  After having followed VidCon over the years, it was great to be able to attend VidCon US 2022 in-person for the first time. In June, my team and I headed to Anaheim, California for a weekend full of Influencers, interactive exhibits, free swag, and impressive speakers. Though there was plenty to keep me occupied, my main goal was to pick up some key learnings which I could apply to our day-to-day work on the Influencer Marketing team here at Fiverr. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that  4 million Americans  resigned from their jobs in July 2021 alone. According to the same report, resignations peaked in April 2021 and have remained abnormally high through the year, in a trend that is now being called “The Great Resignation”. When Rooted, a predominantly in-person business with three different revenue streams was faced with a make-or-break moment at the beginning of the pandemic, they acted quickly and went “all-in” on digital. Rooted  was founded in 2018, in the early days of the Millennial houseplant craze. Rooted’s mission was simple: to deepen peoples connection to nature, even in an urban setting. “The whole idea stemmed from moving into a new apartment and not wanting to spend too much money on furniture, but more plants because we missed nature. But the entire process to buy plants was extremely daunting, and so we thought we could build a better, more modern version of a plant buying experience.” What began as a group of friends, lovingly referred to as “The Plantboys” quickly grew into a multi-channel business.
