Business Referrals and Customer Testimonials: How to Get Them and Why They Matter

Image
For most businesses, promoting products and attracting clients is key to making a profit. However, getting your business on people’s radar is a lot harder than it looks. One strategy that has consistently been proven to work is word-of-mouth, such as testimonials and referrals.                                               Click Here ReferralCandy found consumers pay  2x more attention  to recommendations from people they know. Word-of-mouth is also trusted by around  86% of consumers , which makes it the most trusted form of marketing. It’s easy to think getting referrals and testimonials occur naturally if you do a good job. However, you need to be proactive in approaching clients and getting referrals that can propel your business forward. Before everything else, let’s define business referrals and testimonials. What is a Business Referral? A business referral is a word-of-mouth marketing tactic that involves getting customers to advocate for your brand. When peop

Fiverr and Lonely Planet Introduce First “Anywhere Worker” Study

Image
Fiverr and Lonely Planet, a globe-spanning digital travel media company and the world’s number one travel guidebook brand, today released insights from a recent survey looking into the new generation of workers, the Anywhere Workers.  The Anywhere Worker For years we have seen people in their early twenties living a digital nomad life, jumping from party city to party city, working online and seeing the world. People in their twenties going somewhere in Asia and working with their laptop from the beach. Single and with no children. But the truth is that this is no longer the case.  We’re seeing many other groups of people choosing this lifestyle: couples, families, experienced workers, as well as the 20 somethings, all of whom are looking for something more - to live somewhere new, to see the world and benefit from the experiences of traveling and working at the same time.  We think the expression Digital Nomad is in fact outdated and not comprehensive of all th

Fiverr Suspends Business in Russia

Image
Our hearts break for the people of Ukraine and we join the world in grieving for the lives lost and destroyed due to the senseless and unjustifiable violence. We also mourn with our global community of freelancers and business owners, who work daily across borders, languages, and cultures to create opportunity. They know that any conflict that divides like-minded and good people into “us vs. them” represents a loss for all of humanity and is contrary to everything the Fiverr community stands for.  That said, the devastation in Ukraine requires action and has triggered global economic sanctions aimed at ending the conflict. In light of the ongoing situation, Fiverr is suspending its business in Russia starting today. We will not allow the opening of new accounts or the use of existing accounts to buy or sell on our platform. We are, however, allowing our Russian freelancers to withdraw their current earnings to ensure we have fulfilled our obligations to them.

3 Takeaways From Vidcon US 2022

Image
After having followed VidCon over the years, it was great to be able to attend VidCon US 2022 in-person for the first time. In June, my team and I headed to Anaheim, California for a weekend full of Influencers, interactive exhibits, free swag, and impressive speakers. Though there was plenty to keep me occupied, my main goal was to pick up some key learnings which I could apply to our day-to-day work on the Influencer Marketing team here at Fiverr. Here are my main takeaways: One: Prioritizing the creator economy over the attention economy could make for more effective partnerships. Demonstrating ROI is a key focus for the Influencer Marketing team here at Fiverr, so I was particularly looking forward to  “The Evolution of Creator Commerce”  session. With platforms like TikTok and YouTube launching  live commerce  (the act of selling products online via live video from brands or content creators) formats, the panelists postulated that the use of live commerce is likely to rise am

The Great Resignation

Image
The US Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that  4 million Americans  resigned from their jobs in July 2021 alone. According to the same report, resignations peaked in April 2021 and have remained abnormally high through the year, in a trend that is now being called “The Great Resignation”. This massive exodus has created a large gap in the talent pool, and HR managers are struggling to fill it. In light of this trend,  Fiverr Business  , in collaboration with HR platform  Hibob , recently conducted a survey asking HR professionals and hiring managers about the state of their company's workforce. Key Findings Found in the Survey A majority of people want more workplace flexibility According to respondents, the biggest reason why so many people are leaving their jobs now compared to pre-COVID is because of an increased desire for flexibility in their work and life; a desire that arose due to the pandemic. With consensus from 30% of HR professionals and hiring managers, t

Fiverr's Support of Ukraine

Words cannot express the sadness we feel for the people of Ukraine. Fiverr has employees in offices around the world, but one of our most beloved and vibrant teams worked in an office in Kyiv. That’s why, to us, this war is not a distant tragedy playing out on cable news and social media: it is a lump in our collective throats and a searing pain in our hearts that doesn’t go away. Fiverr is a family and our brothers and sisters are hurting. ‍ We stand in solidarity with Ukraine and all those impacted by this unprovoked attack. We also share in the outrage and frustration expressed by our global community—including many in Russia—but we also know that we are not powerless to help. And this simple truth gives us focus. Before the invasion began, we worked to ensure the safety of our team in Ukraine, including helping them evacuate and relocate if desired. Taking care of our Ukrainian staff remains one of our highest priorities. We’ve also looked for ways, big and small, to

Olivia Claparols of ROOTED: Direct-to-Consumer Houseplants

When Rooted, a predominantly in-person business with three different revenue streams was faced with a make-or-break moment at the beginning of the pandemic, they acted quickly and went “all-in” on digital. Rooted  was founded in 2018, in the early days of the Millennial houseplant craze. Rooted’s mission was simple: to deepen peoples connection to nature, even in an urban setting. “The whole idea stemmed from moving into a new apartment and not wanting to spend too much money on furniture, but more plants because we missed nature. But the entire process to buy plants was extremely daunting, and so we thought we could build a better, more modern version of a plant buying experience.” What began as a group of friends, lovingly referred to as “The Plantboys” quickly grew into a multi-channel business. The majority of Rooted’s business came from their B2B division, providing plants and plant maintenance services to office spaces around NYC, and an in-person retail location,

Zach & David of ABC Beer Company: Neighborhood Bar & Beer Store

Image
There’s something special about the way the community supports small businesses in Alphabet City, an area on the east side of Lower Manhattan in New York. But when foot traffic was unexpectedly eliminated, neighborhood institutions like  ABC Beer Company  had to get creative and adapt. In 2012, when Zach Mack and David Hitchner opened ABC, a bar and retail beer store, they received a pretty harsh welcome message: Hurricane Sandy. The Hurricane made landfall in New York City just one week after they opened, leaving many, including ABC, without any power and with extensive property damage. They were able to quickly clean up the damage and open up shop, for the second time, just a few days later. Having already experienced one natural disaster, Zach and David didn’t panic when COVID-19 arrived in NYC. Thankfully, the governor designated liquor stores essential businesses, so they could remain open for patrons to purchase beer. “We had to have a very sudden conversation th

Ana Bravo of Bravo Java: Heritage Shoe Brand

Image
Meet  Bravo Java , a family-run shoe company, founded in 1942, who found the silver lining in a global pandemic and used the opportunity to update their digital marketing efforts and refresh their brand. With five retail locations around Madrid and Barcelona,  Bravo Java  is a heritage brand with a rich legacy and history in the Spanish market. But when COVID-19 hit earlier this year, operations in their five retail locations were shuttered, and the entire notion of casual, in-person retail was called into question. But necessity is the mother of reinvention. Managing Director, Ana Bravo, used the crisis as a springboard for energizing Bravo Java’s digital marketing and branding efforts. “Our physical stores have been closed for more than 2 months. We had to keep paying the rent, the electricity, and our manufacturers. It’s true we had an online store already, but the sales were minimal. The situation was dire. So, confined at home, we began to study the competition and saw that online

A Guide to Game UI Design

Image
The game user interface (UI) design can make or break a player’s experience and satisfaction. You shouldn’t downplay its importance if you want to  develop a game  that thousands of players will install and share with their community. To help you create a wildly successful game, we’ll cover the ins and outs of game UI design in this guide. What Is UI in Video Games? Simply put, a video game UI is an interface consisting of components designed to help players find information, navigate, and accomplish goals within the game. Some of these video game UI components include level maps, coin counters, and life bars. Like UI design for mobile applications, video game UI design needs close attention to functionality and detail. What Is the Role of UI in Games? The purpose of video game UI is to let users perform tasks within the game world via direct input or through actions on a head-up display (HUD). The UI is the program’s section that allows human-computer interaction (HCI). The shape, col
